Twitter

Today Mar has done a presentation about Twitter. She has showed us how to use it, and that there are many celebrities that have an account and write "tweets" (however, most of those celebrities have a person who updates their profiles for them).

Twitter is an online social networking service and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read text-based posts of up to 140 characters(those posts are called "tweets"). It had over 300 million users in 2011, and it has more than 600 employees.

I have a Twitter account and I use it very often, I usually write in English so that people from other countries can understand me. I read what some celebrities tweet, and also what my friends say. I think it's a great social network.

MarvinSketch

We also talked about an useful software called MarvinSketch, presentated by Ana.

MarvinSketch allows users to quickly draw molecules through basic functions on the GUI and advanced functionalities such as sprout drawing, customizable shortcuts, abbreviated groups, default and user defined templates and context sensitive popup menus.

Spotify

Today Peter has done a presentation about Spotify.

Spotify is a Swedish DRM-based music streaming service offering streaming of selected music from a range of major and independent record labels. It was launched in 2008. Spotify had about 10 million users (2.5 million paying members) in 2010. Music can be browsed by artist, album, record label, genre or playlist.

As Peter said, Spotify has a really similar template to iTunes, so it's really easy to use. It's great to listen to the music you want wherever and whenever you want. I have an account, although I don't use it that much. I prefer buying CDs and LP records (the same about "physical" books) as I have always done.

Vector Lines and CAD

Diego has spoken about Vector Lines and CAD.

The term "vector" in graphic design refers to a method of editing and file storage. Vector files store information using paths, trajectories, and nodes.

CAD (Computer-aided design)or CADD (Computer-aided design and drafting) is the use of computer technology for the process of design and design-documentation. CADD software provides the user with input-tools for the purpose of streamlining design processes; drafting, documentation, and manufacturing processes. CAD may be used to design curves and figures in 2D space; or curves, surfaces, and solids in 3D space.

GPS

Today Kike spoke about GPS.

GPS (Global Positioning System) is a space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather, anywhere on or near the Earth, where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites.

I think it's a really good invention because it really helps you to find places and guide you.

Then there's something like a game which is planned on the internet. Someone hides a "treasure", that person gives you coordinates and you have to find it. There's also a similar thing but with books.
