RENREN and Facebook





Today's speaking class has been about the differences between RENREN and Facebook. It has been presented by Maite. Here are the most important differences between the Chinese and the American social networks:

·An obvious difference is that RENREN is in Chinese, while in Facebook, here are many languages ​​to
choose.

·You can see who has visited your profile on RENREN, but you can't do that on Facebook.

·RENREN is mostly used by young people but there's people of all ages on Facebook.

Peter talked about Google +. It's very similar to Facebook, and I think it's better (and safer), but all my friends use Facebook and Tuenti. I hace an account, but I don't think I will use it at the moment.

Tuenti


Ruth has talked about Tuenti today. Tuenti is a social network, wich was founded in 2006 by a group of friends in Spain. It's really similar to Facebook, you can comment on pictures, like status...
It's mostly used by Spanish people. However, the company is trying to make it known in other countries. Tuenti is available in Spanish, Catalan, Basque, Galician and English. It's accessible only to those who have been invited.

The outsourcing is involving the contract out a bussiness function to an external provider. For example, lots of American and British bussiness have providers in India. The main reason is the huge cost saving.

About Google

Lawrence "Larry" Page (born March 26, 1973) is an American computer scientist and software developer who, with Sergey Brin, is best known as the co-founder of Google. He is the current CEO of Google.

The Google offices are in Santa Clara County, California, United States. If you work there, you can have free gourmet lunches and dinners, swimming spas, child daycare centers, laundry machines and many more things.


But Google also has negative things. For example, they can lower your Google ranking or just get your website banned, so that it will be more difficult to find you on Google. They manipulate the order.

Steve Jobs made a difference on IT because...

1. He co-founded Apple with Steve Wozniak, and they both helped to popularize the
idea of the personal computer with the Apple II, a mass-produced 8-bit computer encased in plastic that became one of the most successful PCs of the 1980s.

2. He changed the way we buy, organise and listen to music, thanks to iTunes.

3. The iPhone (also invented by him) introduced a new mobile operating system, iOS.
